priorities.

To tag along to the previous blog about “Creating Space” I really feel like this new blog of “Priorities” tags along with it. To create space in our lives for God to move and operate in, we must first look at our priorities and what is driving us.

Stop and ponder on what your priorities in life right now are. Is it relationships, personal development, family, mental/physical health, finances, etc.? Does the priorities you just thought about or named out loud advance the Kingdom of God? Does it grow your relationship with God? Does it bring about knowledge and understanding? Does it challenge you for the good?

Our top priority/goal in life should be to restore the Kingdom of Heaven on earth (Matthew 6:33), to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20), and lastly and most importantly being called to Heaven (Philippians 3:14).

I have had many talks with individuals and the only reason they are not fully tapped into who God is and following Him like we are created to do is because of fear of man- a concern about what others think, say, or do to you. Fear of friends/family leaving their lives, fear of being looked at differently, fear of rejection, fear of losing mans love, help, friendship, affirmation, etc. but the word states in John 14:8 “If God is all that you have, you have all that you need.” I think this is so important to remember because although in the spirit realm it may look like we have nothing/no one but truly in the spirit realm we are wealthy and have all that we need. For the things of this world are invaluable compared to the Kingdom of God, we must throw away anything not of God. We must no longer count on our own righteousness or judgment or will. Instead, we must be diligent in seeking after God and asking Him His plans for us/His will for us. For His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. No eye has seen, no ear has heard all that God has in store for those WHO LOVE HIM! (1 Corinthians 2:9) When we spend this time in the secret place of intimacy with the Father He begins to download and reveal BIGGER and BETTER visions and dreams to us. Further past what our minds can comprehend. Bigger than what we want in our lives. We often times cut ourselves short of what we can accomplish. But when we begin to spend time with the Father He will pour into us these great visions and dreams that we can create as goals in our lives and push to take hold of that perfection for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own. (Philippians 3:12)

It brings God GREAT GLORY when we bear much fruit, it brings him satisfaction when our actions bear fruit. What is fruit? When we help people to know God, find freedom, discover their purpose, and empower them to make a difference. It’s when we encourage people, share scripture, pray with people, and help them with their next steps. It’s this fruit that shows we are a true disciple of Christ. It is not necessarily what we do inside the walls of the building or our church attendance but it’s our actions toward others that proves we are true disciples. Being TRUE disciples is a huge priority in this world we are in. We must be fishers of men just like Matthew 28:19 says. We must also be in the river of God like Ezekiel 47 says. Specially verses 8-12. Verse 9 states the there will be swarms of LIVING things wherever the water OF THIS river flows. Fish will abound in the Dead Sea, for its waters will become fresh. Life will flourish wherever this water flows. When Matthew 28:19 says fisherman of men, it is referring to souls. When we allow the river of God to flow out of us that allows us to become the fisherman to cast our nets out, to cast our mercy and grace to our brothers and sisters, and with the power of Jesus name to bring them out of darkness and dead dry bones to be brought to LIFE and LIVE! To continue Ezekiel 47, verse 12 says fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. To live in LIFE 24/7 we must be rooted in the river of God bearing fruit in every season. For if we are not bearing fruit, just as Jesus cursed the fig tree… fill in the blank…. verse 12 continues to say the leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing. This new crop every month is a new harvest and a harvest represents Gods provision and blessing. So when we are rooted in the river of God, we will reap blessings and the Lords provision! The Bible says that people should praise God for the good land he has given them. Fruit for food is survival, God can and will provide what is needed. That might not always be what we “want” (Matthew 5:3–12), but it is enough for us to accomplish His will. Matthew 6:28-30 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? Leaves are often used as a symbol of hope in the face of hardship. Revelation 22:2 “The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations”. This verse appears in a vision of God’s future, where the tree of life provides fruit all year and its leaves heal the nations. After God’s judgments have swept over the earth, removing all that is opposed to the new and better order, there will be great need for healing worldwide. For example, the dove brought Noah a olive leaf to indicate that the flood has receded (Genesis 8:11).

Priorities, Priorities, Priorities!!!! Humans need to set their minds on many things, but they need to be prioritized correctly, each of these things has to be seen in relation to the Kingdom of God. The Bible teaches that God should be the first priority in a person’s life, and that other priorities should be influenced by this. Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”. The Bible also teaches that people should love God and their neighbors, that people should serve God by denying themselves and following Him, that people should be content with what they have, and not love money, that people should pray often that God’s Kingdom be established, and that people should be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. (1 Timothy 6:8, Hebrews 13:5, 2 Corinthians 5:9, Matthew 16:24-26, Matthew 22:37-39).

Priorities are crucial because they guide believers toward living in alignment with God’s will, values, and purpose. By establishing what matters most such as loving God, loving others, and seeking His kingdom first—Christians can avoid distractions and focus on spiritual growth and fulfilling their divine calling. Key themes throughout the Bible such as stewardship, righteousness, and wisdom emphasize the importance of choosing God’s priorities over worldly ones. As stated in the previous paragraph, Matthew 6:33 stating “seek first the kingdom of God,” highlights that when God’s priorities are placed at the center, everything else falls into its proper place. Setting proper priorities helps believers maintain a healthy relationship with God and others, live with integrity, and manage their time, resources, and talents wisely. Priorities in the Bible are important because they direct believers’ lives toward purpose, harmony, and eternal significance, ensuring that their actions align with God’s greater plan.
